How this site makes money
The plain-English version, because you deserve to know before you click a link.
We earn commissions on some links
Paw & Passport is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program. When you buy a product through one of our links, we may earn a small commission. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
This costs you nothing. The price you pay is exactly the same whether you use our link or go to Amazon directly — the commission comes out of the retailer's margin, not your pocket.
It never changes what we recommend
This is the part that matters. No brand pays us for placement, no manufacturer sends us free products, and no commission rate has ever moved a product up or down a ranking. That's why you'll find a $16 tether ranked honestly next to a $110 certified harness, with the gap between them spelled out, and why we'll tell you when the cheaper product is the better buy even though it pays us less. Our independence is the whole value of the site; selling it would be worthless.
How the links work
Our buy links route through a redirect on our own domain (you'll see /go/ in the URL) that adds our Amazon Associates tag and sends you to the product. Every earning link is marked #ad and carries a rel="sponsored"attribute, per Google's and the FTC's guidance. We disclose our relationship clearly and conspicuously, at the top of every commercial page, before any link.
About the prices
Prices and availability come live from Amazon and are accurate as of the date shown on each page. They change constantly, and Amazon's price at checkout is the one that counts. When our price data is more than 48 hours old, we hide the number rather than show you a stale one — more on that in how we research.
Other programs
Amazon is our default retailer. From time to time we may link to another retailer or a travel-booking service where it's genuinely the better option for you (for example, pet-friendly lodging), and we'll disclose any affiliate relationship the same way. We never wire tracking for a program we haven't actually joined.
