What changes by trip type
Flying
Everything above goes in checked or carry-on luggage, but a small in-carrier kit travels separately: one absorbent pad in the carrier base, a spare pad, a few wipes, one poop bag, a collapsible bowl, and a couple of treats. What people pack and never use
- Toys, plural. One chew and one familiar toy. The rest come home clean.
- A second set of bowls. One bowl gets rinsed.
- Dog clothing, unless your dog genuinely needs a coat for the climate.
- Bottled dog water. Tap water is fine; carrying your own from home is only worth it for dogs with genuinely sensitive stomachs.
